Six Sentence Sunday 10/31/2010

This piece is an excerpt from the short story BLADE AND BURN.  I wrote this piece a few years ago for the Blood Lust anthology.

He did not budge and he stayed put until I gave him an answer. His dark tongue played with his sharp eyetooth and soon, right before my very eyes he pierced the fleshy muscle. The richest, most colorful crimson droplets spilled from the self-inflicted wound and for extra effect, he slid the blood lined tip of his tongue across his black lips. The exquisite shimmer of the liquid that sustained his life softened me up towards him. A sense of exhilaration flowed through me because Riggan hinted to me that he understood the burning hunger in me to walk in the shadow of death.

Yes, I wanted to walk that very path along side him.

Six Sentence Sunday

This is a piece that is currently being considered by a publisher.  It's from my paranormal series.  I am very excited about it.
“Which of me do I choose?”  Chloe pressed her soft hand against the cool window.  The condensation outlined her hand; small bursts of coloured liquid framed the window.  She caught a glimpse of her reflection and gasped.  Swirls of energy danced together in the large space between them, just like she had seen before in her dreams.

Six Sentence Sunday 10/03/2010

Here is an excerpt from a short story I wrote that was published several years ago.

Slowly, with such nervousness and dread, I turned to look.  In the doorway, my uncle’s compadre Rafael leaned against the wooden frame with his arms crossed.  Blood rushed to my face and I tried to turn away, but I could not.  I scanned the configuration of his entire body and there wasn’t a single flaw.  His hair was black and the color of his skin bordered along the lines of mocha.  His lips were full and I knew that if they ever grazed along the surface of my skin, I would lose all sense of space and time.

Six Sentence Sundays

09/26/2010

This piece is from my novel that I recently submitted to an agent.

As people walked past me, I drowned out the sounds of the passing cars and the shouts from my friends.  The background faded into a blur as the wind blew behind me as if to push me to my destination faster than I had anticipated.  A gentle hint of Old Spice lingered under my nose, and I walked right through the comforting odor that reminded me of my brother.  The smell intensified and the remnants of my brother’s spray-painted signature remained on the wall of the bakery.  A heavy pang tore at my heart when the line of blue, the rival gang’s color, was painted straight across his name. I bit down the anger and rushed to school.

Dear Readers,

Since I have stopped writing, I have been asked quite a few questions about my return. I appreciate the inquiries and I will try to answer them here:

When are you going to come back?

My biggest project, my doctoral degree, is almost over, so I am currently transitioning into writing. It has always been a dream of mine to get a doctoral degree, so I finally went for it. At the beginning, I tried to juggle academics, writing, working, and a family. One of those had to give, so I opted to put writing on the backburner. However, I kept writing whenever I got the chance.

What kind of stories are you going to write?

The type of stories I write depends entirely upon my muses. As soon as I sharpen some of my stories, I will get them submitted for everyone to read.

What kind of WIP’s do you have right now?

I have submitted a manuscript for review. Cross your fingers. I also have a few more novels that need to see the light of day, but I put them away – not because they weren’t any good – but I needed to focus on my education. Let me dust them off and get them out there. What I would like to focus on right now are my short stories.

Are you on twitter? Facebook?

What started out as a dare, I am currently on twitter and I love it. I think I’m becoming addicted. If you want to follow me or have any questions, just click the twitter link.

As for Facebook, I am not sure if I will communicate that way. Give me some time to see if FB will work out all the glitches.

Are you going to bring back the Thermoerotic website?

As of now, I'm not sure.

If there are any other questions I did not answer, please do not hesitate to ask.

P.S. – I finally got my blog up and running. ;0 You know who you are.
